1. Grid layout
This is the traditional store layout form of shelves. Supermarket stores generally adopt a grid layout, where product display shelves and customer channels are arranged in rectangular sections, and the width of the main and secondary channels is consistent. All shelves are arranged in parallel or at right angles to each other. The advantages of grid layout are:
(1) Create a serious and efficient atmosphere;
(2) The aisle is designed according to the needs of passenger flow, which can fully utilize the space of the store;
(3) Due to the standardized placement of product shelves, customers can easily identify product categories and distribution characteristics, making it easier to make purchases;
(4) Easy to use standardized shelves, which can save costs;
2. Island style layout
Island style layout is the arrangement of unconnected islands in the middle of the business premises, with shelves set up in the middle of the islands to display goods. This form is generally used in department stores or specialty stores, mainly displaying small-sized products, and sometimes as a supplement to the grid layout. Nowadays, domestic department stores are constantly reforming their management methods, and the island style layout has been transformed into a professional store layout form, which is widely used.
The advantages of island layout:
(1) Fully utilize the business area and arrange more product shelves based on the characteristics of the building, while ensuring smooth flow of consumers;
(2) Adopting island designs of different shapes can decorate and beautify business premises;
(3) The environment is rich in changes, making consumers more interested in shopping;
(4) Satisfy the various needs of consumers for a certain product, and have strong attraction to suppliers.
3. Free flowing layout
Free flowing layout is based on the convenience of customers, attempting to maximize the presentation of products in front of customers.
The advantages of a free flowing layout:
(1) The layout of the storage space is very flexible, and customers can freely navigate through various shelves or counters;
(2) The atmosphere in the store is relatively harmonious, which can stimulate customers to make impulsive purchases;
(3) Easy for customers to browse freely without creating a sense of urgency.
